Reflections

Attention Arts Enthusiats!

From literature, video, dance and music!  Please see info below for this amazing opportunity for LHS artistic students.

Don't wait! Entries due by December 2! Students do NOT need to be a PTSA member.

In its more than 40-year history, the PTA Reflections program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. The Reflections program was described by its founder, Mary Lou Anderson, as “almost too simple.” That simplicity—of asking children to express themselvesartistically based on a common theme—is the foundation of this long-standing PTA program.

The theme for 2011-12 is "Diversity means . . ."  Show us your creative ways to celebrate diversity by submitting works in any (or all) of these six categories:

  • Dance choreography
  • Film production
  • Literature
  • Musical composition
  • Photography
  • Visual arts

Students submit artwork to LHS' PTSA. Works will be blind judged and winning entries will advance to the Peralta District PTA level and on to the State PTA level.  The top state best-of-the-best entries go on to the National PTA to be considered for a National Reflections award. Each year, PTA gives the following awards at the national level:

  • Outstanding Interpretation Awards
  • Awards of Excellence
  • Awards of Merit
  • Honorable Mention
